After directing the critical acclaimed movie Gamyam, Krish is back with a Muti-starrer (atleast they call it so!!!). I was pretty eager to watch the movie as it was directed by Krish who handled human emotions exceptionally well in Gamyam, for the prostitute character played by Anushka and the old man character played by Nagayya. Seriously I do have few expectations on the movie but not on the story, performances though.
The movie deals about 5 characters Vivek Chakravarthy (Manoj), Ramulu (Nagayya), Saroja (Anushka), Khureshi (Manoj Bajpaaye) and Raju (Allu Arjun) while Deeksha Seth, Lekha Washington, Saranya, Rajesh, Seiya and Ravi supported the main characters.
Most of the issues presented in the movie are our contemporary issues such as the Poverty, Prostitution, Hindu – Muslim Agitation (The Terrorist Problem). The movie takes off with introducing the main characters and their characteristics. Vivek wishing to become a Rock Star, Nagayya wishing to educate his grand son at any cost, Raju dreaming high to marry Pooja (Deeksha Seth), Saroja planning to escape for the company she is working for and Khureshi who wants to leave the country feeling they are nomore safe to live in India. All the characters were very well established. Each character has an agony to deal with.
Firstly I would like to thank Krish for giving a beautiful film like Vedam, it was definitely a must watch movie. I am impressed by the way Krish had established the lead characters and equally dealt with them till the end. The transformation of Vivek’s highly attitude character to a person who cares for the next and the transformation of Raju’s character who thinks money, the only barrier are highly impressive. It is always hard to design 5 different threads for 5 characters and merge them in a way that all of them end up fighting together for a cause at the end. Krish was successful I had to say. Though the climax part wasn’t too convincing it wouldn’t leave a negative impact on you or it didn’t leave a negative impact on me
. The story was simple and all the issues were contemporary but the way Krish handled them makes Vedam a worth watch. Krish def. joins my must watch league

.The Next big thing in the movie was music. I wasn’t greatly impressed by the songs except for few bit songs. On screen none of them looked bad. My picks on the screen in the order of liking are Prathi Nimisham, Malli Puttani, Prapancham, Egiri pothe and Now or Never. The back ground music was too good. The way MMK switched between the lanes for describing/elevating/developing each character was terrific.
After Music it is the Editing that made the difference. I thought editing was too good. These kind of movies especially when the director is naratting the script in bits and pieces the editing part has to be equally good to ensure safe journey.
Characters and the Actors Performance
I am describing the charatcers and the actors performance in the order of my liking.
Saroja, aka Anushka played the role of a prostitute who wants to escape from the company she is working currently and start a new company in Hyderabad. Anushka was exceptional. Dialogues written for her shows her innocence as equally as her philosophy.
Raju, aka Allu Arjun was pretty good. Be it comedy, romance or emotion, Arjun was able to do justice for all of them. He was excellent at the hospital scene where he plays with the little kid.
Ramulu, aka Nagayya as a helpless weaver is good. He was teriffic at few scenes. Dialogue in the car before the climax is too good.
Vivek, aka Manoj has a very less screen presence when compared to the other lead Characters. He was good and tried to make his presence felt.
Khureshi, aka Manoj Bajpaaye is just okay. I am not sure whether he has given his 100%. Though he was good at times, on the whole I was disappointed with his role.
Rajesh, Ravi and Karpooram (dont know the name of the actor) did a good job.
On the whole Vedam is a well made movie with a normal story but sincere screenplay and honest dialogues. Though personally I felt the climax episode should have handled better, I wouldn’t regret watching it again.
My Rating: 3.5/5
